I wonder if I am the only person who still enjoys playing The Sims 2 Very Happy I actually prefer TS2 to any other generation. I have been playing the game since its very release and it seems like I will never get bored of it, there are still so many things I haven't tried and I haven't done yet.

What about you?

Sometimes I can play Sims 2 to feel nostalgia for the amazing past of Sims Series, but I always return to Sims 3 anyway xD

Oh, yes! I love it so much. And what ever game I try, I always come back to Sims 2.

I played Sims 1 when it came out, I also had fun with Sims 3 for some years. With Sims 4 ... I tried for 30 minutes, but to me it looks and feels so ugly, it's just not made for me.

I am just the same, @PollyPoison! I regret buying TS4 at all. I can't get enough of TS2, but I can't play TS1 anymore and I stopped playing TS3.

I'm still a Sims 2 fan and never played Sims 3 or 4 (my daughter plays 3 and 4 but has difficulties to edit alphas for retextures).

I'm not really playing - I miss it. I'm still in the process of sorting my downloads. This is why I prefer to have a clean Downloads folder before playing again.

I am not sure if I've described it right (because of english), but I only have Sims 2 installed on my computer, like you Aileen. Smile
And fortunately I did never buy Sims 4 because I downloaded the 48 hour free trial from Origin.

And Lizzy, I wish you luck with sorting your downloads. I know, that can take forever...

PollyPoison, it's been for about four years now that I'm sorting my downloads which I started in 2007, with reflexsims forum stuff (this forum later became Black Pearl Sims). I was moderator at reflexsims forum for a short while and I knew Greeksgal. It was the good old Sims 2 days with daily jokes there and so on.

The hardest part for sorting will be objects and I'm thinking of a good way to organise this extra folder, because of sets with Master and slave meshes, single objects or Maxis recolours and mixed sets having both Buy and Build objects.

Things I don't use anymore, I'll keep them but will compress them as winrar. I don't want to lose anything... or bin too easily.

@Lizzy at first I was having difficulty with that as well, but I just realised that it does not matter as much, as long as you remember what is what. Maybe renaming files would help?

I am a huge fan of organising stuff. However, I ended up starting over, because I can't identify some files at all.

P.S. Let's discuss how we organise our folders here.

@Lizzy, oh... since for years? This must be frustrating? Sad
Maybe, if you start a new download folder with only the most important things, so you can play again? Then sort the old downloads whenever you have time and add them step by step to the new one?

I remember reflexsims. Back then I had a completely different taste. More dark and grungy. Now I am totally into Shastakiss and Maxis Match. Smile

For some objects sets, I got either meshes or retextures but not the entire collection. I check with DDO, searching for orphans...

The fact is that in the past years I had about three computer crashes and each time I needed to back up the computer system, I went to move all the downloads, winrars in one folder quickly to my Sims 2 external disk. At the end I found myself with tons of duplicates, which caused my external disk to be quickly almost full. This is why I'm sorting, also kowing that my computer (Hewlett Packard under Windows 7) is old, from 2009 and might... die soon or later...

I still have reflexsims stuff, of course, even a few residential lots from their independent site (one by Jonesi, called the Lace lot, if I remember well). I got a tutorial by Teko from a TSR forum thread on how to remove ugly shadows on objects (as on some painting frames, under vases, etc.). I tested his tips and they work wonderfully in SimPE for me.

I have a new computer now, so I still have to go through the process of migration. Fortunately, I don't have any neighbourhoods, so I don't really have to worry too much. Before getting my new machine, I was just trying to start fresh with my huge downloads folder.

The only thing is that I have Windows 10 now (and it's quite infamous for TS2 problems), hopefully it's going to be fine.

This is what I fear about Windows 10...

We couldn't do anything. My husband and I were actually going to keep Windows 7, but newer motherboards don't support it anymore. We tried everything and decided to give Windows 10 a go. I haven't tested TS2 yet (I must admit that I am a little bit nervous), because I've been playing ESO and been quite busy with other stuff.

However, I can't say that I'll ever abandon TS2. I love Crisps&Kerosene's quote:

I'll probably be playing The Sims 2 in my grave

I read many blogs and such about Sims 2 (for me UC) and Windows 10. I'm still under W7, I don't regret it. But in case my computer would die, I get prepared.

My daughter played a bit S2 under W10, then switched to S3 and S4 for a sort while. A computer repairman (?) had to create a specific partition of her hard drive, because W10 hard drive can't handle all new programmes along with OS data. Now it's fine for her, also with other programmes she has because she's a 3D Web-designer and created her own "small" company.

I don't play much the game, but love to create to keep myself busy. I don't know how long I will do that, because if by any case my husband, daughte and me decide to leave France for good to live somewhere else in Europe, I guess that the thrill of being in a foreign country would more call me to socialise, got out, discover new faces and things - so to not die as the perfect idiot who missed the best of this (under)world.

I've played all 4 of the games and I keep going back to Sims 2. With all the custom content available, I can make any sort of game I want. I have a medieval install, a post-apocalyptic install, and now a modern city-ish install!

Sure, I might as well! Setting up my new modern hood is taking a while since I'm so very very picky haha
This forum's finds have helped me find some great content for the trailer park challenge I want to start it off with!

Amazing! I am super picky myself, that's why I thought this system might be helpful.
